Official Born conversion. The EURO column includes split ranges (for example 40–41) because Born's European lasts fall between whole EU sizes. CM is maximum foot length.

Between two sizes?

Born runs generous with a roomy toe box. For closed-toe shoes and boots, take the smaller of the two; only size up if you plan to wear thick socks.

Widths available

Most men's styles come in N (Narrow), M (Medium / Regular) and W (Wide). Select the width together with the size when ordering.

Sandals run big

Born sandals are made in whole sizes and run generous. If you wear a half size, take the whole size down rather than up, so your foot does not slide forward.

Widths available

Select women's styles are offered in N, M and W. The soft hand-finished leathers and flexible handsewn construction give most feet extra room over time.

Width Guide N / M / W

Born builds every style on a wide, roomy last, so many feet that normally need a wide shoe fit comfortably in Medium. Pick the width that matches how your foot fills the ball of the shoe.

Width over length

If the length conversion looks right but the shoe still pinches, choose the next width instead of a longer size — extra length will only add heel slip.

Leather gives

Born uppers are soft full-grain leather or suede over flexible handsewn (Opanka) construction. They mold to your foot with wear, so a snug first day relaxes; a loose first day only gets looser.

Removable footbed

Select styles include a cushioned removable insole. Take it out to accommodate custom orthotics — this adds interior depth rather than length.

How Born Fits

Born's signature handsewn construction and cushioned footbeds create a forgiving fit — the brand runs true to size with a generous lean.

Closed-toe shoes & loafers

Closest to true to size. The wide toe box suits wider feet without sizing up. Anything even slightly loose will relax further as the leather softens — when in doubt, take the smaller size.

Sandals & slides

The most generous styles, often made in whole sizes only. Half sizes should round down. An open toe hides a little extra length, but a too-long slide lets your foot drift forward.

Boots

True to size with a touch of room for thicker socks. Expect a short break-in while the shaft leather softens and molds; side zips make entry easy without affecting fit.

Heels & platforms

Block heels and cork-infused midsoles keep weight off the ball of the foot. Size these like closed-toe shoes; platform heights are listed per style.

Construction Notes

  • Opanka handcrafted construction: a single stitch joins upper, lining and outsole, so the shoe flexes with your foot instead of resisting it.
  • Cushioned footbeds: most styles include extra foam under the arch and heel for out-of-the-box comfort.
  • Removable insoles: select styles allow custom orthotics — remove the stock footbed to make room.
  • Natural materials: leather and suede stretch and mold; synthetic panels do not, so size synthetics more precisely.
  • Per-style specs: heel height, shaft height and shaft circumference are listed on each product page and vary by style.

How to Measure

Set up

Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor with your heel lightly touching a wall. Measure in the afternoon or evening, when feet are at their largest.

Mark the length

Stand with full weight on the paper and mark the tip of your longest toe. Measure from the wall to the mark in centimeters.

Measure both feet

Most people have one foot longer than the other. Always use the longer measurement.

Check the width

Trace around the foot and measure straight across the widest part (the ball). If the ball is notably broad for your length, consider a W width.

Match the chart

Find your foot length in the CM column of the men's or women's table, then read across for your US, EURO and UK size.

Care & Sizing Tips

  • Ventilate after each wear: let leather shoes air out and dry naturally between wears; never force-dry near heaters.
  • Smooth leather: wipe with a soft dry cloth and condition occasionally to keep the hand-finished finish supple.
  • Suede & nubuck: brush gently with a suede brush; protect with a suitable spray before first wear.
  • Footbeds: remove the insole occasionally to air the shoe interior, especially in warm weather.
  • Returns: unworn shoes in original packaging can be exchanged for another size — check the fit indoors on a clean surface before wearing outside.

Between sizes? Born's roomy last and soft leathers reward the smaller choice for closed-toe styles — and rounding down for whole-size sandals.
